Show-Alert Privacy Policy

Show-Alert is a TV show tracker built by a one-person studio, Modus Digital UK. This page explains, plainly, what the app collects, why, and how you can control it — on both the Google Play and Apple App Store versions.
1. Information we collect
Creating a Show-Alert account and using the app involves a small, specific set of data:
- Email address — Used to create and sign in to your account, and to identify your saved show list across devices.
- Push notification token — A device identifier issued by Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can deliver season and episode alerts to your phone.
- Your show list & notification preferences — The shows you track and which alerts you've switched on, stored against your account.
- Subscription status — Whether you're on the free or Premium tier. Payment itself is handled entirely by Stripe — see below.
- Basic usage analytics — App events (screens viewed, features used) and crash diagnostics, used to find bugs and understand what's useful.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, or browsing history, and we never see or store your card details.
2. How we use it
- To run your account and keep your tracked shows in sync.
- To send you the notifications you've asked for — new seasons, air date changes, episode alerts — and nothing else.
- To apply the correct free/Premium limits to your account.
- To diagnose crashes and improve the app's reliability and performance.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
3. Third-party services
Show-Alert is built on a small number of trusted providers, each of which processes a narrow slice of data on our behalf:
- Firebase (Google) — Push notification delivery and app infrastructure. Firebase receives your device's notification token.
- Stripe — Payment processing for the £2/month Premium subscription. Stripe handles and stores your card details directly — Show-Alert never receives them.
- Base44 — The platform Show-Alert is built and hosted on, providing account storage and app infrastructure.
Each provider is bound by its own privacy policy and only receives the data needed to perform its function.
4. Data retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your show list, preferences, and notification token are removed from our systems within 30 days, except where we're required to retain limited records for legal or accounting purposes (for example, subscription records via Stripe).
5. Your rights & choices
Wherever you're based, you can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time by emailing us (below). If you're in the UK or EU, you have rights under UK GDPR / the EU GDPR, including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
You can turn off push notifications at any time from your device's system settings, or manage individual alert types from within the app.
6. Children's privacy
Show-Alert is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we'll remove it.
7. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a material way, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Show-Alert after a change means you accept the updated policy.
